Mark your calendar for the NREM Adopt-A-River Clean-Up set for Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. The NREM Alumni Society’s adopted section of the White River begins at the SR 37 bridge and continues for one-mile downstream in Hamilton County.

Coordinated by the society's John Maher, '85, the annual clean-up will launch from Strawtown Koteewi Prairie Park, 12308 E. Strawtown Ave, Noblesville, IN. A take out for lunch is planned for the White River campground. With the lunch break, this is typically a four-hour trip.

Canoes, paddles, and PFDs will be provided courtesy of the White River Canoe Company. Participants need to bring a lunch, drinking water, old shoes or water shoes, gloves, and sunscreen. A liability waiver must be signed at the clean-up site.

Email the Alumni Association by August 13 to make your reservation. Please provide the names of all volunteers and submit a cell phone number where you can be reached on the morning of the clean-up if weather conditions necessitate a change in plans. Children 10 and older are welcome to attend if they are able to swim and are accompanied by a parent or guardian.

A group from the 2011 Adopt-a-River Clean-Up day are standing next to
about 870 pounds of trash and scrap metal they collected.
