NREM Internship & Career Fair Exhibitors and Opportunities

Internship & Career Fair exhibitors included:

August Mack Environmental - internship opportunities available with this full service environmental, health and safety consulting firm.

Ball State University Career Center - was on hand to greet and assist students and employers.

Ball State University NREM Alumni Society - had several members of its board of directors available to greet students and employers and provide information about alumni society programming.

Bureau of Water Quality (Muncie Sanitary District) - had up to five summer internships available sampling fish, macroinvertebrates, and mussels in the White River and its tributaries.

Cardno JFNew - had full-time jobs, seasonal work, and field work are available with this ecological consulting and restoration firm.

Crossroads of America Council, Boy Scouts of America - offered seasonal summer work, part-time employment, and full-time career positions. Seasonal summer work is available at a Central Indiana camp, part-time employment entails working with at-risk youth in Muncie and surrounding communities, and full-time career positions may require relocation. 

Delaware County Emergency Management - had internship and volunteer opportunities available within the Emergency Management division. 

Delaware County GIS Department - had GIS internship and volunteer positions available.

Division of Forestry (Indiana Department of Natural Resources) - shared opportunities within the division and in the private sector.

Division of State Parks and Reservoirs (Indiana Department of Natural Resources) - had AmeriCorps positions (Indiana Heritage Corps) for Summer 2013 available. 

Environmental Solutions & Innovations, Inc. - conducts bat studies, terrestrial & aquatic ecological studies, and plant and wetland studies.  This consulting firm sought field assistants to capture, collect, identify, record data, and participate in other field activities in the East and Midwest.

Hamilton County Health Department - had two seasonal positions open for vector control technicians. Technicians  survey, sample, and spray mosquito breeding sites in Hamilton County and assist with adult mosquito survellience and complaint investigations as needed. Positions run from May-August.

Hamilton County Parks and Recreation Department - had positions available as a camp counselors, events and park administration assistants, maintenance and grounds crew, interpretive staff, and customer service staff.

Indiana Army National Guard (Camp Atterbury) - had three to six paid positions will be available (pending funding) in invasive species control, threatened and endangered species management, wetland/watershed management, cultural resource maintenance, and hunting program management.

Indiana Park & Recreation Association - IPRA had one summer internship to offer and provided information about opportunities with other Indiana parks.

Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites Corporation - offered a wide variety of internships (and possibly other employment opportunities) in areas such as summer camp education, archives, historic preservation, collections, exhibit maintenance, new media, program development, performing arts, and more.

Indianapolis Zoo - had a variety of internship and seasonal employment opportunities available throughout the zoo and gardens, including experiences with animal care and encounters, conservation education, marketing, human resources, volunteer services, and marketing.

Interpretive Services, Division of State Parks and Reservoirs (Indiana Department of Natural Resources) - internship and seasonal positions were available at start parks and reservoirs across the state.  Applicants teach the public about the state's natural and cultural resources through variety of programs, talks, hikes, and activities. 

Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge (US Fish and Wildlife Service) - internship opportunities with the refuge were in visitor services and the biological field.

Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS)/USDA - had internship opportunities available within the organization.

Town of Fishers Parks & Recreation - had summer camp counselor positions available in the parks recreation division and the environmental education and outdoor recreation division.  Additionally, internship opportunities can be tailored to interests in recreation, environmental education, curriculum and program development, and more.

US Army Corps of Engineers - had two summer ranger positions available to conduct public outreach, boat patrols, research management, and other duties as assigned.

*Internship materials were also available from the City of Noblesville Stormwater Program (ESRI ArcGIS experience required), Grand Teton National Park, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and Royer Farm Fresh.
