Air Jam

Air Jam was Thursday, October 6 at 9:00 p.m. in Emens Auditorium.  A sold-out crowd watched various student organizations dance and compete in the annual lip-sync competition!  First place trophies were given to each category winner: Greek, Independent, and Residence Halls. An overall winner and crowd favorite award were also given. The 2011 Homecoming King, Queen, and their courts were crowned following the show! 

The emcees for the show were Alia Blackburn & Aaron Grayson.

Rules & Regulations:

The first 20 teams to turn in their information will be allowed to participate, and the next 7 will be alternate teams.  There is a $30 non-refundable entry fee for each team.  Alternate teams will not be reimbursed even if they do not have the chance to compete. Each team must have a minimum of 5 people and maximum of 20.

Songs are given on a first come, first served basis.  You will be contacted to let you know which of your choices of songs you will be permitted to use.  Please have alternate choices. Acts must be 2 ½ - 4 minutes long.

Alcohol, drugs, and tobacco WILL NOT be tolerated (Students under the influence will not be allowed on stage.  There is ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOL permitted in Emens Auditorium).

There are three categories: Greek, Residence Halls, and Independent.  There is a winner for each category, an overall winner, and a crowd favorite award.

A few helpful hints:

  • Judges award points to groups that fit the Homecoming theme, It's a Bird... It's a Game... It's Homecoming!” in their act.
  • Air Jam is a LIP SYNC competition and judges will be encouraged to look for this during the performance.
  • Judges do not look highly on inappropriate behavior or moves.
  • Originality is KEY!

Key Dates and Times:

  • Thursday, September 8, 9:00 a.m. – Air Jam Entry Forms accepted.  Materials must be submitted to the Alumni Association, 2nd Floor of the Alumni Center, 2800 W. Bethel Ave.  Make checks payable to: Ball State University.
  • Friday, September 16, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. – Deadline for entry forms – last day they are accepted. 
  • Tuesday, September 20, 9:30 p.m. – Mandatory group leaders meeting in Alumni Center Conference Room #1.  All group leaders must attend, or your team WILL BE disqualified.  You must also bring the final CD version of your song compilation.  It must be the only music on the CD.  Groups will sign up for a time to be reviewed as finalists at choreography checks.
  • Monday, September 26 & Tuesday September 27, 8:00 p.m. –The choreography checks will be in Assembly Hall at the Alumni Center.
  • Wednesday, October 5, 4:00 p.m. – Mandatory dress/technical rehearsal in Emens Auditorium.  All groups must attend in full performance attire to help the stage crew select the best lighting for your performance.  Again, we reserve the right to determine what is considered appropriate. We must have the final list of all performers at this time. If they are not on the list they WILL NOT be admitted in the day of the show.

Tickets can also be purchased for $10 the day of the event/at the door. 

You MUST have your ticket to get in NO EXCEPTIONS!

The Emens Staff will be monitoring the auditorium to ensure no one is saving groups of seats. If you would like your group to sit together you must ALL enter at the same time. Empty seats will be filled!
