The parade theme is "There's No Place Like Homecoming!" Judges will be looking for floats that reflect the theme. Your parade unit must clearly display the name of your business/organization. There will be volunteers on site to direct you into the lot to your designated space. It is the responsibility of the participating organization to remove its entry from the parade route and campus immediately following the parade. All parade forms and payment must be submitted by Thursday, September 26 to ensure all mailings can be completed in time.  Sorry, no entries will be added after this date.

FLOAT ENTRIES: All campus floats must get a police escort to the lineup site. For an escort, contact the University Police Department at 285-1111.

  • Float size: Maximum measurements for floats are: 15 feet high (from the ground), 11 feet wide, and 22 feet long. Jeeps, flatbed trucks, pick-ups, etc. may be used for floats. A standard hay wagon or farm wagon may also be used at the base (a standard hay wagon consists of a frame and four wheels). The height restriction of 15 feet has been adopted for your protection so that the float will clear all the wires and trees along the parade route. All floats must adhere to these limitations and be capable of negotiating corners on the route. Maximum cost for construction should not exceed $500.
  • Two cars are permitted to accompany each float without paying an additional fee. Cars that accompany floats will line up behind the float. Float entries can have up to 15 persons walk behind without paying an additional fee. Entry fee for a float entry is $35.

CAR/WALKING ENTRIES: A separate entry form must be submitted for each car/walking unit entered in the parade. For safety reasons, the vehicle should carry a reasonable and sensible number of individuals (i.e., a full-sized automobile is limited to a maximum of five individuals).

  • Decorating materials must not exceed $200. Car/walking units consist of no more than two cars, with a maximum of five persons per car and 15 walkers per unit. Entry fee for a car/walking entry is $20.

Golf Cart DimensionsGOLF CART ENTRIES: Golf cart units consist of one driver, with a maximum of ten walkers. Decorating materials must not exceed $200 and may consist of anything not damageable to the cart. Major decorations may be assembled beforehand (see measurements in diagram).

  • Participants should remove all decorations at the end of the parade route and return the carts to the designated drop off location (commuter parking lot behind Worthen Arena) following the parade. There will be a large truck in the lot and volunteers to help load the carts. Entry fee for a golf cart entry is $40.
