2009-10 Accomplishments

•  During the fiscal year 2009-July 1, 2010, the BSUAA hosted 135 on-campus events (19,016 alumni in attendance) and 77 off-campus events (3,380 alumni in attendance) for a total of 212 events (22,396 alumni in attendance).
•   Ball State Homecoming week 2009 was a tremendous success.  The theme for Homecoming was “Best Week Ever.”  New activities included a flag football tournament and a campuswide scavenger hunt.  Eight hundred fifty-eight alumni gathered for the pre-game rally at the Alumni Center.
•   The BSUAA hosted pre-game rallies prior to all home football games.  Six rallies were held during the fall 2009 football season with 1,951 alumni and friends attending.
•   The 26th annual Senior Congrats Party was held Friday, May 7, from 4-7 p.m. at the Alumni Center.  Free food and entertainment was provided, along with a Ball State Alumni T-shirts for the first 500 new alumni in attendance.
•   The BSUAA staff continued to work closely with the 10 colleges and departments that have established official alumni constituent groups to engage their alumni and to provide academic and social connections.
•   For license plate year 2010, the Ball State University license plate is now completed in one stop rather than two.  Instead of completing one form at the Alumni Association and then taking it to the BMV, the alumnus can now simply go to the BMV, which will handle the entire process.  The Alumni Association will still receive the $25.00 fee, processed by the BMV, to go toward student scholarships and alumni programs.
•   Alumni Association Legacy Scholarships were awarded for the 2009-2010 academic year to 50 recipients.  With the awarding of this year’s scholarships, the Alumni Association has awarded $1,335,400 to students through the Legacy Scholarship program.
•    For the December graduating class, new graduate packets were sent by US mail to 1,025 new alumni and 965 packets were emailed.  For the May graduating class, new graduate packets were sent to 2,258 new alumni.  Due to the new license plate policy, the BSUAA was unable to offer waived fees to new graduates as has been done in the past.
•   The Student Alumni Relations Team (St.A.R.T.) sold 139 finals survival kits for the fall 2009 semester and 91 Survival Kits for the spring 2010 semester.  Total profit since the program’s inception in fall 2004 is $14,658.08.
•   The BSUAA continued to offer alumni plans to assist them in meeting their insurance needs.  These plans include AlumniMed+, ProtectorMed+, GradMed, GradGift, AlumniTerm, and Auto & Home Insurance.
•   The Alumnus magazine was produced six times this fiscal year and available online with three editions being printed versions.  The printed version is mailed to over 136,000 alumni.
•   Cardinal Corner, Inc., Web Site Relaunch - Cardinal Corner Web site and online processing was taken down in late 2009 due to new policies implemented by the university business affairs staff.  The new Web site was relaunched on April 30 utilizing a third party vendor. This page is housed outside the university at http://shop.ballstateuniversityalumni.com. Currently visitors are able to shop and purchase items using PayPal or credit card with the final transaction finished in the BSUAA office.
•   Alumni Perception Survey Data – A survey was sent to all alumni.  There were 2004 responses for a response rate of 5.03%.  The BSUAA is currently analyzing the data. The results have been published at www.ballstateuniversityalumni.com/2010survey.html.
•  BSUAA Second Life – Two alumni events were held in November surrounding Howard Dean and Meghan McCain coming to campus.
•   The BSUAA has been able to update 1500+ alumni records with new information from LinkedIn. More than 30% of those involved with the BSUAA on social networks have made a gift to Ball State in the past.
