Aspire Charter Academy
Aspire Charter Academy, in Gary, Indiana, was founded in 2008 by Daniel Comer who is committed to making a difference in the lives of youth in the Gary community. Aspire Academy focuses on character development with high academic and social expectations. Aspire serves students in grades K-8 with a philosophy of teaching founded on the four pillars established by the National Heritage Academies. The four pillars, which serve as the Academy's management organization as well, are comprised of the following elements: Academic Excellence, Student Responsibility, Moral Focus, and Parental Partnership. Curriculum is rigorous, challenging, and designed to prepare students for higher level learning and academic achievement in high school and upper level learning environments. School enrollment numbers are currently at 598 students for grades K-7. Enrollment will increase during the next academic calendar year as the school expands to include eighth grade. There are plans to institute a lottery system for enrollment if necessary.
