Charter School of the Dunes

    Charter School of the Dunes (CSOTD) is a public elementary school available to children of Gary, Indiana and surrounding communities.  Students and teachers from all walks of life are welcome at this charter school, as it is their belief that a more diverse student body can educate a larger population, having a greater impact on society as a whole.  Along with the promotion of cultural diversity, a wide variety of teaching methods are utilized.  Students at CSOTD are exposed to a safe academic environment rich in art, history, and the humanities.  Endeavoring to help students develop skills necessary to become informed, contributing, and responsible world-citizens, this charter school also emphasizes core skills such as mathematics, language arts, reasoning and research, and interdisciplinary competence.  Longer instructional time, more annual academic days, and mandatory parental involvement all contribute to the overall success of students as well as makes CSOTD a unique educational experience, set apart from other schools.
