Underground Railroad Simulation – Learning the Past, Equipping the Future
Students from English, Graphic Design, Art, Photography, Computer Science, History and other related disciplines are needed for this collaborative design effort. During Summer Session II, this immersive learning team will refine an existing prototype and design an educational tool that will interpret the experiences of the Underground Railroad. The design will be ultimately be developed into a full simulation that will place elementary students directly into the social and factual experience of the Underground Railroad journey from slavery to freedom. Connector Ambassadors – Program Development for Small Business Mentorship
Marketing, Public Relations, Communication Studies,
Entrepreneurship, Telecommunications, Graphic Design, and Sales students will
benefit from this project experience with Muncie’s Innovation Connector, a
small business start-up support network seeking to develop a formal mentorship
program. Become an “IC Ambassador” on the ground level of a project that will
lead to a comprehensive marketing and media campaign for this newly-created

Nature Play – Responsible
Design for Environmental Learning
Research shows that children who play in and explore natural
environments adapt conservation and sustainability values as adults. Explore
an environmentally responsible design ethic with this student team researching best practice case studies and developing design principles for environmental education. Collected
data will be used to further develop and illustrate nature-based outdoor
learning areas for the local Head Start pre-school program. Student team
members are needed from early childhood education, sociology, psychology,
environmental management, architecture, landscape architecture, and other applicable program areas. For

Reporting Initiative
Learn about living and working in a sustainable way as you assess the
environmental, economic, and social impact of life in Indiana’s state
capitol. The results will be a part of a sustainability report to the
City of Indianapolis. Undergraduates and graduates are invited to apply
