Immersive Learning

Immersive learning, which turns academic knowledge into real-world solutions, is at the heart of the Ball State experience.

Immersive learning gives students the opportunity to gain practical experience and develop critical job skills that you would like to see in your best employees. The impact of the students' project lasts beyond the experience itself and has a tangible result such as a creative work, interactive Web site, or business plan.

Building Better Communities Fellows is an immersive learning program that places an interdisciplinary student team led by a faculty mentor directly in your business or organization. Our bright, curious students are eager to see how their top-notch classroom instruction can make a difference beyond the Ball State campus and improve Indiana's economy.

In addition, we have two specialized programs:
  • Health Fellows—Student teams work on projects that improve Hoosiers' health and wellness, often through workplace programs.
  • Emerging Media Fellows—Part of Ball State's Emerging Media Initiative, student teams find emerging media solutions for business and community partners.

Check out our Fellows' current and recent projects to see how our students are getting hands-on learning and making a positive impact on Indiana. Read what our business and community partners say about how our Fellows program helped them.
