What Can I Do with a Major in…
Travel and Tourism
Tourism and travel is primarily about geography: places, culture, landscapes, the movement of people, and interrelationships between humans and their environment. The travel and tourism major incorporates courses focusing on tours, meeting planning and programming, as well as tourism promotion and regional development. Knowledge of and skills in production of maps, graphs, or regional statistical databases are also needed.
People who work in the travel and tourism industry make their living by helping others enjoy themselves. Jobs in this field are diverse and encompass positions in hotels and lodging, resorts, cruise ships, recreation, restaurants, casinos, management, and customer service. Opportunities for travel and tourism jobs are spread worldwide; no matter where you want to go, there is likely a travel and tourism position available to help take you there.
