We will offer various workshops prior to the start of classes for those faculty interested in learning more about teaching at Ball State. No formal reservations are required but we ask that you RSVP by calling 765-285-1763 or email.
Preparing to Teach at Ball State
Friday, August 10, 2012 and Wednesday, August 15, 2012 (repeated session)

Schwartz Digital Complex - Bracken Library
This session will allow new faculty to get to know colleagues outside their departments, as well as help instructors get off to a great start from the first day of classes on. We will explore a variety of issues such as
- Brief review of the basics—syllabus construction, grading, office hours, attendance policies, etc.
- What to do on the first day of class—alternatives to reading through the syllabus
- Thinking beyond lectures and tests
- Policies and expectation for teachers at Ball State
- Reflections from a “Beta” (last year’s “Alpha”)
