TechTime

TechTime is a free service offered by the HelpDesk to currently enrolled Ball State students that are having difficulty with their personal computers and resolving those issues requires hands-on assistance from a technician.

Many issues that students face can be resolved by contacting the HelpDesk. The HelpDesk also provides online assistance via TechClips: How-to Videos, answers to Frequently Asked Questions, and information about other help resources.  Check out these online resources and to learn about additional technology services that are available to Ball State students by visiting the HelpDesk web site.

If a TechTime appointment is required to resolve your technical issue, please review the What to Bring to TechTime list before coming in for your TechTime appointment. TechTime is a consulting service, so you will have to stay with us so we can help you solve the technical issue at hand. Machines cannot be dropped off.  Some repairs, especially complex virus and spyware issues or operating reinstalls, may take several hours to resolve.

TechTime is staffed by knowledgeable student employees and graduate assistants who will guide students through fixing common computer problems.  Students can schedule TechTime for assistance with operating systems, applications, and network configurations. TechTime staff will also help with memory upgrades and minor hardware repair; however, they will not repair major hardware problems. They can provide information on where to get hardware problems repaired. Due to overwhelming demand, students need to make a reservation for TechTime
