Your Ball State username and password gives you access to many of our Web-based applications use at Ball State, such as Blackboard, Webmail, and Gradebook.
Getting a Username and Password
If you are a student or employee and do not have a username and password, bring a valid Ball State ID to the Tech Center, located in Bracken Library, room 101. You will be given your username and/or password while you wait. The process takes about five minutes to complete.
Online and Distance students will be issued a username and password from Online and Distance Education. If you have not gotten one yet, please contact Online and Distance Education.
Password Recovery
Practically everyone at some point in their lives forgets a password. Here is what you can do if you forget your Ball State password:
• Prepare in advance: Make sure to register an life-line e-mail address with us. If you do, then you can quickly get access to your account again by visiting the forgotten password page. Once there you will enter your Ball State username and password reset instructions will be sent to your life-line e-mail address.
• Come see us: If you never registered a life-line e-mail address, stop by the Tech Center in Bracken Library, room 101. You will need to show a valid Ball State ID card in order for staff to be able to reset your password.
• Off-campus students: If you are a distance education student, studying abroad, or have some other legitimate reason that coming to campus would result in undue hardship, you may fill out a form for remote users. The completed form can be emailed or faxed to the Technology HelpDesk. Once received and approved, a password will be emailed to the e-mail address you supply on the form.
