TechClips are short “How To” videos that provide answers to your questions about various software programs, technologies used on-campus, and university applications. There are hundreds of TechClips available and most are less than two minutes long. The great thing about TechClips is that they are available anytime and can be accessed from anyplace. This gives you access to expert assistance whenever you need it.
TechClips have been organized into categories to allow you to search for help based on what you may have questions about. These broad categories are listed below.

Academic Tools for Classes includes TechClips for things that relate to class work such as Blackboard, Ball State Web Gradebook, inQsit, and Mediasite.

Access and Manage Your E-mail explains the different e-mail options that are available to you. TechClips in the section also show you how to use various e-mail programs and tools. It also provides information about how to deal with spam and junk mail.

Antivirus and Other Protection includes TechClips that cover topics such as installing Antivirus and Antispyware software on your computer. It also includes information on the proper way for managing and disposing of confidential information.

Collaboration Tools gives information about software applications and other tools that can help you communicate with others here at Ball State. TechClips are provided for Communicator 2005, iLocker, SharePoint 2007, and Polycom.

Connect to the Campus Network details the options available for students, employees, and guests who need to connect to the Ball State network. TechClips are included that provide information for both wired and wireless networks.

Create and Manage Documents and Files contains TechClips for desktop programs that help you create, update and manage documents. Included are many Microsoft programs including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. There is also information about PDFs and the programs used to read and create them.

Download Software provides TechClips that show you how to access and download free software from the Software and Services Download page and the BetaPlace page.

Faculty/Staff Administrative Tools assist faculty and staff who have questions about the IBM system.

Mobile Devices provides TechClips for using things like a Pocket PC, iPhone or iPod Touch.

|
Operating Systems will provide information on how to customize the look and feel of your computer environment. TechClips in this section will also show you how to accomplish common tasks with your computer.

Password Management gives you TechClips that have information about the best practices for managing the passwords used for the Ball State computer systems.

|
Publish Web Pages provides TechClips for using iWeb, a place where you can publish a web page. It also includes information for using web development software such as FrontPage.

Storing Your Files covers ways that you can save your computer files. TechClips cover topics including Flash Drives and iLocker.

In addition, there is also an
alphabetic TechClip topic list that lists all TechClip topics in alphabetic order based on the system name or name of the software product.
