Assistant Professor/Video-Art, Department of Art

Tenure-track faculty position available August 17, 2012, in video art and intermedia.

Responsibilities: teaching from a menu of courses in the Department of Art’s Video curriculum at the basic and advanced levels; teaching video as an integral component to contemporary art practice with an emphasis on conceptual strategies and experimental approaches to moving images, narrative structure and documentation; working within the context of a larger unit, including interaction with photography and digital media.

Minimum qualifications: MFA degree in Time Based Media, Intermedia, or Video by time of appointment; familiarity with a variety of cameras both HD and SD; record of successful undergraduate and/or graduate teaching at a college or university; record of exhibitions and artistic accomplishments; proficiency in professional production and post-production techniques for video and audio; working knowledge of Final Cut Pro, After Effects, DVD Studio Pro, Isadora, and Compressor.

Preferred qualifications: experience with professional lighting and audio production with some experience in installation art; studio and field experience with video and audio production; experience with video for Web TV and virtual studio; well versed in critical theory in contemporary art practice with an understanding of cinematic language and approaches.
