Assistant Professor-Sound Designer and Teacher, Department of Theatre and Dance

Tenure-track position available August 16, 2013, in a NAST/NAST accredited program. Responsibilities: teach courses in sound design, sound technology, multi-media for the stage, design awareness, stagecraft, and other related design courses at the undergraduate level; supervise student sound designers in assigned productions (including four dance concerts per season); design selected department productions and collaborate with theatre and dance faculty, staff, and students in facilitating the design/tech production program.

Minimum qualifications: master’s degree in theatre completed by August 1, 2013; one year of teaching experience; excellent communication and organizational skills; experience as a sound designer in professional venues; computer competency in stage sound applications; ability to work collegially within a liberal arts setting.

Preferred qualifications: MFA or MS in sound design, arts technology, or multi-media design; three years of teaching experience at the university/college level; experience with digital media and/or expertise in teaching online or blended courses.

The Department maintains an active role in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) and the Kennedy Center American College Dance Festival (KCACDF).
