1. How do I connect with my WiMAX USB dongle?
Make sure your WiMAX USB dongle is plugged into your computer and start the WiMAX Client Manager. The manager will recognize and initialize the USB dongle and if a network is within range it will say "Ready to Connect" and will allow you to click the connect button. Also you can look at installing Cisco WiMAX USB dongle.
2. My WiMAX Client Manager just says "Searching for Networks" and won't let me connect. Computer is not seeing any WiMAX networks; why is this?
Out of Range--You may be too far from the WiMAX antenna to receive a reliable signal. You may need to try the USB dongle closer to campus to receive a reliable signal.
On Campus, in Building--Currently we have the WiMAX antennas pointing outward from campus. Signal penetration in campus buildings will be limited. It is advised to use Wi-Fi.
3. According to the coverage map I am inside the coverage area. But my WiMAX Client Manager seems to not allow me to connect?
The coverage map provides you our guideline as to where signal should work the best. RF is unpredictable in nature and may not work in certain areas within the coverage map. You may also noticed that a usable signal can go beyond our coverage map.
The WiMAX signal deployment is best effort and cannot be guaranteed to 100% coverage.
4. My WiMAX Client Manager says "USB Device Not Found" and I have my USB dongle plugged in.
The computer is not recognizing your USB device. Reinsert your USB dongle and then try to reopen you WiMAX client manager. If that doesn't work, try to uninstall the WiMAX Client Manager and then reinstall.
5. I have a WiMAX enabled device. How do I connect it to the network?
At this time we only support USB Dongles that are given out by the research team.
6. I have a lost/broken/stolen USB Dongle. What do I do?
Bring it in to where you received it. We will try to get it working. However we are limited with spares, and you may not be able to receive another one in the broken USB dongle's place.
7. My Client Manager says that I am connected but I cannot get to the Internet.
On the WiMAX Client Manager there is an IP address. This location needs to be have an IP address. It may be that you have not yet received an IP address from the WiMAX network yet.
