DESK Delivering Educational Support to Kenya (DESK) is a
student led organization designed to assist students in Kenya. In Kenya, all
students are required to have a school uniform to attend school. Unfortunately,
some families are not in a position to buy school uniforms or school supplies
for their children. To help these families, DESK organizes various fund raising
activities to raise money to buy school uniforms and supplies. Some of these
activities have been bake sales, calendar sales, Kiss the alpaca event, and
Penny Wars between faculty and students.
DESK was started by students in the Department of
Educational Psychology, but it’s open to all students and faculty at Ball
State.
Upcoming Events
Run for Kenya
The year is off to a "running" start! The current project is run by the program DESK (Delivering Educational Support to Kenya). DESK is a student organization dedicated to raising support for the Shivembe Primary School in Kenya so that they can receive an education. Since many Kenyans have inspired people all over the world as great runners, they hope to inspire them with the donations raised by participating runners from the Ball State University community. With the help of other DESK members, two teams of two runners are competing to see who can raise more money by the end of the month.
On September 29, the four runners will participate in various running events at the Fort 4 Fitness festival in Fort Wayne! The overall goal is to raise $500. To learn more about Run for Kenya, donations, and/or DESK please send an email to the president of DESK Mrs. Blough ldodonnell@bsu.edu
