Make A Splash is a program designed to teach water safety, addressing the socioeconomic issue that drowning is a leading causes of death for African-American and Hispanic children. Laura Seibold-Caudill, women's swimming and diving coach at Ball State, and swimming coach Emily Kowalski used a Diversity Associates Program to host approximately 50 economically challenged and ethnically diverse children from preschool through fourth grade for three water sessions, teaching the basics of water safety in a learn-to-swim environment.
