Thomas C. Bracken

Thomas BrackenThomas C. Bracken was elected secretary of the Board of Trustees in January 2014. He has been a board member since 2012.

Bracken serves as president of the George and Frances Ball Foundation in downtown Muncie, continuing the Ball family’s commitment to the betterment of Muncie and Ball State.

Bracken has previously been a software engineer and creator of Auto Build Assemblies, a certified integrated solution for Intuit Corporation’s Quickbooks small business accounting program, the owner of the Wells Street Athletic Club in Chicago, and an electrical project engineer at Mid-West Automation Systems in Buffalo Grove, Illinois.

Bracken earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University and his master of business administration from the University of Chicago.

Bracken is the fourth generation of the Ball family to serve on the Board of Trustees since the university’s founding. He succeeded his father, Indianapolis attorney Frank Bracken, who served on the board for 31 years and for whom Ball State’s Administration Building was named in 2010. Other family members on the board have included Thomas Bracken’s grandfather, Alexander Bracken; his great-grandfather, Frank C. Ball; and his great-great uncle, George A. Ball. Frank C. Ball and George A. Ball were among the five brothers who founded Ball State. Bracken, his wife, Sheila, and their three daughters live in Muncie.
