One of the responsibilities of the provost is assisting with the university’s strategic planning. The strategic plan defines the mission, vision, and strategies that will advance Ball State. The current plan runs from 2007 to 2012. Discussion of the next plan will soon begin.
To fully implement Education Redefined: Strategic Plan 2007-2012, the university launched the Ball State Bold capital campaign. Gifts from alumni and friends assist us with initiatives such as providing more immersive learning experiences, creating more scholarships for our students, and attracting talented faculty. The goal: $200 million by 2011.
Private gifts enhance the many accredited programs that we offer. With this support, we can create more options, maintain our reputation of having state-of-the-art technology and facilities, and continue offering research opportunities to faculty and students.
As an institution, Ball State is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). Our last review was in 2004, and we are happy to report that our reaccreditation was approved for a 10-year period, during which the university will not undergo any type of interim review or monitoring. We continue internal review and assesment eforts for our next HLC visit.
We also review programs, taking an assessment of each academic unit on campus. We do these reviews to see if any changes need to be made to those units.
