All master's, doctoral, and specialist students must apply to receive graduate degrees.
The Graduate School must receive your application for graduation within the first four weeks of the semester in which you plan to graduate. (If you plan to graduate in the summer, you must apply for graduation within the first two weeks of the summer semester.) Obtain a planned program from your major department and submit it to the Graduate School when you apply for graduation. All approved program changes made during your course work must be indicated on this form.
You may apply for graduation in one of three ways:
- Apply online. Select the appropriate choice: master's or AuD, specialist, or doctoral
- Apply via PDF version of the application form. Download the appropriate choice: master's or AuD, specialist, or doctoral. You can complete the forms in Acrobat and print out the completed form. To download Adobe Acrobat, which is required to use these files, visit the Adobe Reader Web site.
- Apply via printable form and complete in writing. Mail printed form to 2000 West University Avenue, Muncie, IN 47306 or deliver it in person to the Graduate School at West Quad 100.
Application forms also are available in the Graduate School office. All requests for applications for graduation and any questions or concerns should be directed to the Commencement Office, in Lucina Hall, room B4, phone: 765-285-1689.
If you have received a National Defense or Direct Student Loan, or a Nursing Student Loan from Ball State University, prior to the completion of course requirements for your graduate degree, you must make an appointment for an exit interview in the financial aid office (Administration Building, room 201). See the financial aid area for more information.
