In compliance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Ball State has developed a new student/parent Web service called PEG (Parent Education Gateway). Through this service, current students have the ability to authorize up to four parents/family members to view their education records in PEG.
Special Notes about PEG & Passport ID's
-
Access - PEG is designed as a tool for parents/family members of existing Ball State students. If your student is new to Ball State and has not yet attended Orientation, they will not be able to grant access to PEG. New students are given access privileges during the Orientation process.
-
What information can I see in PEG - Depending on level of access granted by the student, parents/family members could view major and advisor information, financial aid awards, term grades and schedules, and overall academic standing (good, probation, disqualified).
-
Passport ID's - if you already created a Passport ID through the Undergraduate Admissions process you do not need to create another one. If you have forgotten the password you may change it here. Please note: Passport ID's are not able to be edited. This means the name/email combination originally used during account creation stay with the Passport forever.
-
Where can I use my Passport ID - at this time Passport ID's are only used in the Admissions process and to gain access to PEG. Other university resources require either a Ball State username/password (ex. Webmail, MEG) or different login (ex. QuickPay).
-
Financial aid questions - Financial aid awards are viewable on PEG. For more information about financial aid, contact the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid at 765-285-5600. You must be granted permission by the student through My Education Gateway to access any student financial aid information online or through personal conversation.
-
Bursar questions - At this time, Bursar information is not available on MEG/PEG. As an Authorized Payer you may view Bursar financial information online at the Cardinal QuickPay site. If your student has granted permission to you through MEG/PEG that allows us to discuss their financial information, please contact the Bursar's Office at 765-285-1643. Additional general account information may be found at www.bsu.edu/bursar.
How do I get started?
- The first step in getting access to PEG is a valid Ball State passport account. Watch how to set-up a passport account using this TechClip.
- After a passport account is set up, the second step is for your student to grant permission to view his or her academic record. Step-by-step Guide for a student to grant permission to a parent/family member.
- Once access has been granted by the student an e-mail will be sent to the parent/family member. You are now ready to access the site!
