At Ball State University, research, scholarship, and creative activities are key components of your professional academic experience. Typically, those activities require resources--sponsorship by a funding agency--to make them go. Support can come in areas such as faculty time, graduate or undergraduate student involvement, travel, supplies and expenses. The Sponsored Programs Office is here to assist in the acquisition of external grant funding to enable you to carry out your projects.
We point you to online tools to identify potential funding opportunities, and we guide you in the step-by-step proposal development process. We advise as regards research incentive programs, and we support training and education about proposal preparation. To jump-start projects with seed funding, we provide guidance concerning the ASPiRE internal grant program.
When research involves human subjects, animal use and care, or biosafety considerations, we put you in touch with research compliance personnel. When a sponsored program can lead to the creation of intellectual property (copyrightable or patentable works), we point you to the Technology Transfer Office. Finally, we shine the spotlight on all who submit proposals or acquire funding through our Research Recognition efforts.
