OCTOBER IS NATIONAL CYBER SECURITY AWARENESS MONTH

The Internet is a shared resource and securing it is "Our Shared Responsibility".

National Cyber Security Awareness Month is a coordinated national effort focusing on the need for improved online safety and security for all Americans. NCSA, along with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center sponsors the month long events. These three organizations work together to empower consumers, schools, businesses and government agencies to stay safe online, devoting the full month of October to public awareness and education.

NCSAM reminds us that emerging cyber threats require engagment from the entire American community. This year's theme "Our Shared Responsibility," aims to amplify the importance for all Internet users to do their part in making the Internet safer. There are opportunities for all audiences to get involved. Companies, organizations, libraries, universities and others throughout the nation are encouraged to celebrate the month in their own unique ways reaching their customers, students and citizens. We encourage everyone to take the Cyber Pledge sponsored by the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center.

To begin the month Facebook Live covers National Cyber Security Awareness Month launch.

Join the Office of Information Security Services this month in a number of activities going on across campus.  We will be distributing posters and information materials across campus, webinars and one on one questions answered at the Awareness Booth. 

We we also be giving away $10 iTune cards as a giveway each month starting in October for three months for those individuals who join us on our Facebook and/or Twitter account.
