September 11 Commemoration
Schedule of Events

Student Government Association (SGA) will host an “I remember” poster for students to express their thoughts and feelings at various campus locations September 6–9. This poster will be displayed at the September 11 evening program.

Staff Council will be sponsoring a blood drive in Pruis Hall September 7–8.

Student Voluntary Services (SVS) will sponsor several service projects on September 10 at various times and locations. More information can be found at www.bsu.edu/svs.

Student Voluntary Services (SVS) and Staff Council will be collecting items to create care packages for current military troops through Operation Gratitude from September 1 through September 14. Collection boxes will be placed around campus and in the SVS office located in the Student Center. Items to be collected include: knit hats/scarves, small plush toys (i.e. Beanie Babies), socks (black, brown, green, tan only), energy bars, commercially sealed items (lip balm, toothpaste/brushes, roll on deodorant), travel sized board games, Girl Scout cookies, packets of powdered beverages, and unsealed personal cards/letters.

Special events on September 11

  • The carillon bells located in the Shafer Tower will be tolled beginning at 9:00 a.m. to signify the major events of that morning.
  • A commemorative service will be held in Pruis Hall featuring Michelle Rosado, survivor of the attack on the World Trade Center. In addition, the program will feature music by Ball State Chamber Choir and the presentation of the flag by members of ROTC. The event will begin at 7:00 p.m.
