Elements of each individual unit assessment

Step 1

Goals and/or Learning Outcomes

Each unit will be asked to assess their goals and make sure that they correspond with the Divisional Learning Outcomes. This could result in coming up with new goals and learning outcomes for each area. To get a better idea of how their assessment plan will be evaluated by the Assessment Plan a rubric has been designed.

Step 2

Mapping

Mapping of individual unit programs and services to the Divisional Learning Outcomes needs should occur once unit goals and learning outcomes have been established. The result of mapping will be to provide a clear purpose to why we need to assess the work that we are doing and how we advance student learning in our division’s four stated learning outcomes.

EXAMPLE: Departments will map their learning outcomes to the divisional learning outcomes by using the table .

EXAMPLE: Departments will get more specific about the learning outcomes that will be assessed and connect them back to divisional outcomes below.

Step 3

Adopting a multi-year assessment cycle

Using the cycle below designed by the Assessment committee each unit will design their own multi-year assessment

cycle. Follow the Assessment Cycle when developing your assessment plan.

Step 4

Annual assessment plan(s)

Using the Annual assessment plan each unit will be able submit their plan for assessment. The plan will help the areas to understand what they are assessing, how they are assessing and staying on track with their assessment cycle.

Step 5

Annual Report

Based on findings, recommendations and conclusions of your assesment plan each area will submit a final report. Your final report will include a summary of the information from Steps 1-4. Be sure to include any letters, surveys, focus group transcripts, and questions etc. The final report of the assessment plan is due to the Assessment Committee. Use the Final Report Template when submitting your findings.
