Start here when you are faced with questions about installing software, using our systems, and computer service or repair. Our staff will help you with all aspects of the technology used on campus. Call 765-285-1517 or e-mail helpdesk@bsu.edu. The Technology HelpDesk is located in Bracken Library. Our how-to videos provide answers to your questions about various software programs, technologies, and applications in use on-campus. Learn how to use academic and Web 2.0 tools for your classes, manage your e-mail, connect to the campus network, edit digital images, access information using mobile devices, publish Web sites, use operating systems, download software, and more.

TechTime  (for students only)—TechTime allows you to learn from fellow students in a relaxed setting. Following the experts, you can learn how software your software, add memory or make simple repairs your personal computer. With a little help, navigating technology will become second nature. Make an appointment online, and then go to the Tech Center in Bracken Library BL101, to meet with your TechTime expert.


Adaptive Technologies —The Adaptive Computer Technology Program provides a variety of resources to all members of the Ball State community living with disabilities. Adaptive technologies are available in the Robert Bell Building, room 134G or you may call 765-285-8275

Computer Labs —You can use the computer labs throughout campus to check your e-mail or work on class projects. For lab hours, locations, and testing reservations and policies, visit the computer labs website or call one of our lab coordinators for help at 285-5234.

Technology Store  (formerly the Computer Store)—The Technology Store is located in the Tech Center in Bracken Library, BL101. Call 765-285-4104, e-mail computerstore@bsu.edu  or visit the store for more information the equipment and accessories we sell. Complete this form to temporarily reserve a computer to buy at a later date. If you are a distance education student, you can buy software and have it shipped to your home by contacting the Computer Store directly by phone or e-mail.

Distance Education Students—If you are a distance education student, you can buy software and have it shipped to your home by contacting the Technology Store at 765-285-4104 or by e-mailing computerstore@bsu.edu.

e-Classrooms—To find information about the available technology in my classroom, visit or call Instructional Classroom Support Services at 285-9148. To schedule media for an e-Classroom please call 285-9136.

Equipment & Projectionist Services —You can reserve audio/visual equipment to use in classroom or complete class projects. Mac and PC laptops are available for students to check out. This service is available on the ground floor of Bracken Library.

Have your password reset at the Technology HelpDesk in Bracken Library, BL101. You will need your current Ball State ID. Save yourself a trip, if you set up an alternate e-mail address, you can change your password online.

Video Conferencing —The Video Network Information Center provides technical support for video conference technology for both on-campus or distant locations.

Video Services —Video production, videotaping, editing, audio, satellite uplink and downlink services, duplications, classroom shoots.

Web Mail —Use Webmail to access your Ball State mail through a Web browser. Microsoft Outlook and Entourage X (Mac) are the supported e-mail programs on campus. Employees may choose to use Outlook or Entourage applications and Outlook Webmail (OWA) to access their campus e-mail and calendar. If you need help with your mailbox, call 765-285-1517 or e-mail helpdesk@bsu.edu. The Technology HelpDesk is located in Bracken Library, BL101.

Web Services —You can use our iWeb service to publish personal, course, and student organization Web pages. Institutional and/or marketing Web sites (which include Web sites for academic departments and colleges, university offices, centers, institutes, and other official university units) are managed through university’s Web content management system (CMS). For assistance with official Ball State Web pages, contact University Marketing and Communications (UMC).
