WHEN: CLEP and DANTES exams are administered approximately once each month in the Office of Testing Programs.
COST:
- CLEP: The total cost for a CLEP exam is $97.00. This total is comprised of a $72.00 fee payable to CLEP and a $25.00 fee payable to Ball State University.
- DANTES: The total cost for a DANTES exam is $105.00. This total is comprised of a $80.00 fee payable to DANTES and a $25.00 fee payable to Ball State University.
PREPARATION: Refer to an appropriate textbook that would be required in the course for which you are attempting to obtain credit via examination. Or, check out the official CLEP website or DANTES website.
ADMINISTRATION TYPE: Computer Based
SPECIFIC INFO FOR BALL STATE STUDENTS: Ball State University grants appropriate credit to currently enrolled Ball State students who earn satisfactory scores on the subject examinations of the College level Examination Program (CLEP) or DANTES exams. You will not be awarded credit for examinations if you have been or are presently enrolled for credit or audit in an accredited university course that covers the subject for which CLEP/DANTES credit is offered, nor may you repeat an examination within one year.
Currently enrolled Ball State students who wish to take a CLEP/DANTES examination must contact the Office of Admissions for consideration and procedure information before making arrangements to take the test. Currently enrolled Ball State students who have taken a CLEP/DANTES examination prior to enrolling at Ball State may have their records evaluated for CLEP/DANTES credit by the Office of Admissions with final approval from the appropriate department chairperson.
