Faculty and Staff: Services and Information

Unified Technology Support provides technology, information, and support services to enhance teaching and learning at Ball State.  The following list includes information about some of the applications and software that are most commonly used by faculty and staff.

  • Antivirus: One of the most important things you can do to protect your computer is to run an updated antivirus program.
  • Blackboard: A Web-based content management system that allows faculty to provide course content to students and allows students and faculty to communicate and collaborate.
  • Communications Center (CommCenter): The Communications Center streamlines internal communications at Ball State, providing a more efficient and effective method for the university to share and receive timely announcements, news, and information.
  • Course Evaluations:  Faculty can review course evaluations using Digital Measures.
  • E-mail:  Microsoft Exchange e-mail accounts are provided for faculty, staff, and students.  
  • Grade Submission:  Learn how to electronically submit your grades to the Registrar.
  • iLocker:  An online digital account that lets you store documents, pictures, and more that you can then access from any place. 

If you have a technology question or need assistance with a technology-related issue, contacting the Technology HelpDesk is a great place to start. In addition, UTS offers other helpful services, including those listed below.

  • Computer Labs:  Learn about the general labs, testing labs and adapative technology lab managed by UTS.
  • Concierge Desk: Staffed with knowledgeable and courteous full-time and student staff, the Concierge Desk is your first stop when visiting the Tech Center in Bracken Library, room 101.
  • Hardware Repair : For computers that are university-owned or purchased in the Technology Store. 
  • Instructional Classroom Support Services (ICSS) : Faculty can get help incorporating technology into their classroom.  ICSS provides technical support for the e-Classrooms on-campus. ICSS includes Equipment and Projectionist Services (EPS), a service designed to loan audiovisual equipment to Ball State faculty, staff, and students. 
  • Technology HelpDesk :  Contact the Technology HelpDesk for assistance with a technology issue or to get answers to your technology questions. Submit a web ticket at www.bsu.edu/helpdesk, give us a call at 765-285-1517, or stop by the Tech Center in BL 101.  While many issues can be resolved via a phone call or a remote assist session, the Technology HelpDesk can also coordinate a visit from an IT Support Technologist (LSP) who can provide desktop support assistance at your location.
  • Technology Store (Computer Store) : View, test, purchase, or order the latest computers, software, and accessories from companies such as Microsoft, Apple, Lenovo, and HP.
  • TechTime: TechTime Application Support offers help to faculty, staff, and currently enrolled students who need assistance with application software for a Ball State project.
