Ball State University awards degrees at the conclusion of each academic term. Since the graduation application serves as the only notification of intent to complete degree requirements, degrees are awarded only to those students who have submitted an application and are eligible for graduation. Eligible students must complete an application to graduate. Log into Self-Service Banner (SSB) at my.bsu.edu and click on the “Student” tab, then click on “Student Records”, and then “Apply to Graduate”.
Once submitted, your application and degree audit will be reviewed for eligibility to graduate. You can view that eligibility status at Student > Student Records > “View Graduation Applications” in Self-Service Banner.
Notification regarding your eligibility to graduate will be sent to your BSU email account. The eligibility status is determined by your Advising Center Coordinator. If you have questions about your eligibility, application, or need to submit a late application, visit your appropriate Advising Center.
After the second course withdrawal deadline in each semester, applications for graduation cannot be submitted online. Students must apply in person at their designated Advising Center.
A $25 fee per degree is charged when applying to graduate. For example, applying for a Bachelor’s of Science and also a Certificate or Associate of Science degree would incur two charges. The charge is used to defray the cost of reviewing the candidate's academic record and diploma production.
The applications should be submitted according to the following schedule. Failure to submit this application sufficiently prior to the beginning of your last term may mean that it will not be reviewed in time for you to be notified of any deficiencies prior to the beginning of your last term.
Fall Graduation – beginning March 1st
Spring Graduation – beginning September 1st
Summer Graduation – Beginning February 1st
