The Digital Corps is now offering media software certification training to students at Ball State University as for-credit courses under the course number ID 199. Currently, courses are available for the following applications:
- Final Cut Pro
- DVD Studio Pro
- Soundtrack Pro
- Motion
- Color
- Photoshop
- Dreamweaver
- Flash
Each Digital Corps course runs for five weeks, for 1 academic credit hour. Each student is limited to three Digital Corps courses per semester, and six courses for the student's academic career. To register, please visit the spring 2010 schedule and click the "register" button and follow the instructions. Additional course request or course add/drop procedures are not needed. Courses will be filled in order of requests received.
Each course is designed to prepare students for certification; however, certification exams are optional. Apple Pro Training exams are $150 per exam, and each Adobe Certified Exam cost $50. These exams are available on campus, by appointment.
Please note that the technical skills learned in these courses are meant to supplement the rest of your academic education. These courses will help you become comfortable with the software and technical aspects of media production, allowing you to focus more on the theory and storytelling methods taught in your major courses.
