Microsoft Surface is an exciting multiuser, multitouch tabletop screen, which adds the human element to technology—including the ability to grab, resize, manipulate, and interact with digital content using natural gestures, without the use of a mouse or keyboard.
Users are also able to place physical objects on the Surface to trigger different types of digital responses. Just place a cell phone on the Surface, for example, and watch as any photos on the phone seem to “fall” on to the tabletop computer.
Ball State is among the first in the nation to receive this piece of technology. We are exploring the possibilities of collaborating with other universities and industry partners and looking into immersive learning opportunities for students through the development of educational applications for the Surface.
