Immersive Experiences
Emerging media are deeply ingrained in Ball State’s academic and immersive learning experiences, research, and outreach efforts. These efforts are commonly interdisciplinary, preparing students for a world that will require them to stretch their knowledge and skills, combine specialties, and cross boundaries. Here is a sampling of the types of projects undertaken by our faculty and students:
- Students in our Emmy award-winning Sports Link program produce sports-related content for multiple media platforms, including radio, television, web and mobile communications. Most recently, they served as online producers and social analysts for NCAA March Madness on Demand.
- Muncie's historic past is captured through an award-winning online museum and documentary produced completely by students.
- In collaboration with the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library, students create a social media-enabled traveling exhibit and touch screen archives of the Indiana author's life and work.
- In the iMedia course, interdisciplinary teams of students from advertising, journalism graphics, telecommunications, and computer science research, design, develop, and study interactive news and advertising across TV, mobile devices, and tablets.
