Arthur B. Schultz Foundation – Barb Stedman will be the Principal Investigator (PI). working with AWAKEN a local 501(c)(3) that addresses the needs of women and children in Afghanistan. The funding requested will provide assistance to the local Afghan branch of AWAKEN (Afghanistan) to improve and expand the local medical clinic AWAKEN created a few years ago. They will request between $170,000 and $210,000. There is a rolling deadline but they would like to submit in December.
Department of State: Study of the US Institutes (SUSI) – Women’s Leadership – 20 undergraduate women from the MENA region will participate in a five week on-campus leadership institute that will develop participants’ leadership skills such as critical thinking , communication, decision-making, and managerial abilities. Maria Williams-Hawkins will be the Principal Investigator and she will work with Kirsten Smith. The funding is $240,000 and camp will be held between June 15 and July 18 . Deadline: December 30, 2011
