Graduate Assistantships in The Fisher Institute of Wellness and Gerontology
You can apply to work as a graduate assistant at The Fisher Institute to gain important teaching and research experiences. Graduate assistants work 20 hours a week and receive a tuition waiver (some fees still apply). An assistantship is awarded for one calendar year and renewable for a second year based on satisfactory academic and work performance.
Assistantships Include:
- teaching, research, applied practice in wellness management, and gerontological service delivery
- coordinating initiatives, developing partnerships, and creating copy for the health tools and products that can be used with multiple media outlets
- working with older adults in Delaware County through exercise programming, computer classes, and informational seminars
Additional Graduate Opportunities
As a student at the Fisher Institute, you will have the opportunity to:
- engage in researching, writing, editing, and finalizing text on a number of topics that are incorporated into consumer-based publications
- attend numerous professional workshops, seminars, and programs including the Kirkpatrick Lecture on Aging
- work with aging adults on various levels at the Community Center for Vital Aging, located in downtown Muncie, Indiana
- coach in the senior friendly computer lab
- develop and present workshops
- obtain an internship
