Internship Guidelines
To receive departmental credit for your internship experience, you must follow and meet certain guidelines and expectations, including:
- The work you perform must be directly related to your academic career.
- Your sponsor must provide supervision and evaluation of your performance.
- You must work a total of 100 hours during the academic term in which you are enrolled.
Before beginning your internship, you need to:
- Contact Cailin Murray, department internship director.
- Identify an internship and make the necessary arrangements with your sponsor.
- Obtain permission from the department coordinator to enroll in an internship course (ANTH 369 - Paid Internship, ANTH 479 - Unpaid Internship, or ANTH 696 - Internship for graduate students).
- Submit all materials for internship enrollment, including:

Internship enrollment form, signed by you and the on-site supervisor.
- Registration form for the appropriate internship course.
- Double-spaced, typed summary of your goals and objectives for the internship, including a job description.
During your internship, you are required to:
- Submit biweekly time reports in which your on-site supervisor will summarize your daily activities.
- Maintain contact with our department internship coordinator.
Upon completing your internship, you will submit:
- An evaluation form, which your on-site supervisor must complete and return to our internship coordinator.
- A three-page report summarizing and evaluating the internship experience, including a review of your goals and objectives.
