Freshman Scholarships
Presidential Scholarships in the Arts
The College of Fine Arts awards a limited number of performance-based Presidential Scholarships for students with strong academics and outstanding talent (portfolio of artwork). Indiana residents will receive $4,500 a year for a four year total of $18,000. Out-of-state students will receive $12,000 a year for a four year total of $48,000. The Presidential Scholarship is awarded for a maximum of eight semesters of undergraduate study provided the student maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Fine Art Scholarships
The Department of Art awards a limited number of four-year performance scholarships to incoming freshmen in recognition of outstanding talent, leadership, and academic record. Recipients of the Fine Art Scholarships will receive $1,000 a year to apply to educational expenses at the university. This scholarship is renewable for a total of eight semesters provided the student maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Outstanding Freshman Scholarships
The Department of Art awards a number of one-year scholarships to incoming freshmen. The Outstanding Freshman Scholarships are one-year (non-renewable) amounting up to a maximum of $1000. One-half of each scholarship will be applied per semester to educational expenses at the university in a given academic year.
Scholarship recipients are selected by committee based on their portfolio of artwork, essay, academic ability, character, creativity, and potential for leadership.
Scholarships are available to first-time freshmen entering in the fall semester and have been admitted to Ball State University. Students must pursue a major within the Department of Art. Four-year scholarships require an overall high school GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale.

Academic Recognition Award Scholarship Opportunities for Minority Students
These awards allow qualified out-of-state minority students to pay the in-state tuition rate (does not include room and board, university technology fee, residence hall technology fee, coursed-based fees, or Health Center fee). The award is available for a total of eight semesters provided the student maintains a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale). Qualifications for eligibility are:
- Legal residence outside Indiana (out-of-state status)
- Minimum high school GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
- Rank in top 50 percent of high school graduating class
- Completion of college preparatory curriculum
- First-time freshman, fall semester
