The Bachelors of Arts degree (49 credit hours) provides an option in Art History or Studio Art (
ceramics,
drawing,
glass,
painting,
printmaking,
metals,
sculpture,
photography, and video) and requires a senior thesis or project. All students go through periodic review of their portfolios through out their undergraduate education. The department reserves the right to retain examples of student work for exhibition and accreditation.
This degree program requires 2 years (or the equivalent) of study in one foreign language, normally courses through the 202 level.
Art students who meet the grade requirements at the end of their first-year meet with the primary departmental advisor to select an area of
specialization.
Students are assigned an advisor within their
specialization upon completing 30 hours of coursework. Courses provide students the opportunity to work with professors in
state-of-the-art studio facilities,
visiting artists and designers, and exhibition opportunities.
Students are strongly advised to pursue required course sequences during the regular academic year.
