Acceptance to the Medical Technology Clinical Year is competitive. If accepted, you will complete your final year at one of four accredited hospital schools of medical technology:
- Franciscan Saint Francis Health (Indianapolis)
- Franciscan St. Margaret Health (Hammond)
- Indiana University Health (IU Health) Methodist Hospital (Indianapolis)
- Parkview Hospital (Fort Wayne)
During the 12-month clinical laboratory program, you will learn hands-on and analytical skills needed to conduct tests that help with the diagnosis of infections, cancers, and genetic diseases. In each of the clinical programs, you will work side by side with certified medical technologists at the bench in places like a blood bank and a hospital testing laboratory using clinical chemistry, coagulation, hematology, immunology, microbiology, and urinalysis.
By successfully completing the program you will earn 32 credits. To become certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology you must pass the national registry examination.
