The Center for Historic Preservation is always actively involved in dozens of preservation projects that promote economic development, build and strengthen community identity, and improve the quality of life for Indiana residents.
We work with many segments of government—such as the State of Indiana, Department of Natural Resources, and the Division of State Museum and Historic Sites—and with communities across the state. And we have an ongoing partnership with the Indiana Main Street program, supporting the restoration and revitalization of historic downtowns.
We are a respected resource for historic structure reports, National Register nominations, Main Street program technical assistance, design assistance, preservation plans, heritage education, and heritage tourism.
Founded in 2004, our home is in the Mary Lincoln Cottage, one of the historic homes built by the Ball family, on the 40-acre campus of Minnetrista in Muncie, Indiana.
Graduate students from Ball State’s master of science in historic preservation program support our work with cities, towns, state agencies, Main Street programs, and heritage organizations.
