Concentration Areas

Our master’s program values planning in the public interest that is holistic, physical, and effectively implemented, and there are three areas of concentration that reflect these values.

Sustainable and comprehensive planningcommunity and economic development, and a student-customized option are the three areas you can choose from. Each of the areas requires 12 credits, which include a core course, a studio, and two elective courses particular to that area. A capstone project also is typically included in the selected concentration area.

Each concentration area is affiliated with one or more research/public service institutes of the college and university and a primary venue in Muncie or Indianapolis. With faculty approval, students also may pursue a customized course of study.

If you would like to concentrate in each of the areas, you can customize your option with faculty approval.
