In the bachelor of urban planning and development (BUPD) program, you will find that we take a unique approach to this profession. When you arrive, prepare to roll up your sleeves and get to work. There are no boring lectures here; our program is a hands-on, practice-based studio model of planning education.
And you will get opportunities to see how your education applies beyond the classroom through the Community-Based Projects (CBP) program and other immmersive learning experiences.
As the only accredited urban planning program in Indiana, you will work with some of the best professors who have studied and taught in leading academic institutions throughout the world. To help you succeed, you will be taught the necessary skills that will help shape the physical development of communities.
The work will be challenging, but the return of landing a great job or being accepted to a master’s program is worth it.
While many of your friends at other schools will spend their first year in classes that don’t really relate to their major, you will be exposed to a broad foundation of the disciplines of architecture, landscape architecture, and urban planning. Once you get into your major courses in urban planning and development, you will dive head first into learning about what it means to develop a bridge between design and community.
