The Arts and Journalism Building, a central gathering place on campus, houses the
Department of Art and the
Department of Journalism.
AJ, as we like to call it, was built in 2001, and its prime location in the heart of campus offers such amenities as a food court,
campus bookstore, an
art gallery, and a Starbucks, giving it the feel of a second student center.
The Atrium is the bright, lively food court, which offers a variety of foods you'd see at the mall—Italian, Chinese, Mexican, deli sandwiches, burgers, Chick-fil-A, etc. Breakfast is also available Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Also, if you have that urge for a cup of joe, head over to the coffee shop behind the bookstore. It offers many of the coffee and tea beverages you'd find at full Starbucks locations as well as pastries from the local Concannon's bakery.
Ball Bearings, an online multimedia publication and
J-Ideas, an organization that trains aspiring high school journalists, find their home in AJ. The student-run newspaper,
The Ball State Daily News and the magazine,
expo also find their home in AJ.
