As a graduate student, you will be involved in research under the mentorship of our program. Research topics vary but have a common theme of prevention of and/or rehabilitation from chronic disease.
Our research is well-respected. In December 2011, for example, we completed a two-year project funded by a grant from the Midwest affiliate of the American Heart Association. Our study examined strategies to increase physical activity of patients starting long-term maintenance cardiac rehabilitation.
Some of our student research projects include pre-bariatric surgery physical activity intervention; long-term effectiveness of physical activity interventions in cardiac patients; and active living everyday Internet-based physical activity intervention.
Faculty members have also been published in textbooks, including Lenny Kaminsky who authored two chapters in the textbook, Understanding Your Health, 11th edition.
