One of the keys to success in any profession, and especially in criminal justice, is the ability to perform research to study and find hidden insights and solutions. At Ball State, we encourage students to do research at the undergraduate level as a way to set themselves apart from the competition.

The Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology has many research opportunities for students. Whether it’s working on in-class research or helping with a Building Better Communities project, you will get lots of hands-on experience here.

Some of our research areas include:

  • studying ways to lessen prisoner recidivism
  • developing educational materials to better teach students
  • partnering with other programs to study psychological or sociological aspects of the legal system
