Minors That Work Well with CJC Major

Professionals in the criminal justice field touch lives every day. It can be very beneficial to have an understanding of the factors that influence people’s lives. Here are some minors that can prove beneficial to the criminal justice professional.

Sociology
Human behavior is greatly influenced and governed by social, religious, and legal guidelines. A criminal justice professional with a minor in sociology will have vital knowledge into the understanding of social life, social change, and the social causes and consequences of human behavior.

Psychology
The discipline of psychology embraces all aspects of the human experience from child development to aging. A minor in psychology will aid your career in criminal justice by enhancing your knowledge of the functions of the brain, keen understanding into how brain function affects behavior, and the role environment plays on behavior.

Political Science
Choosing political science as a complement to your major can give you insight into the theory, philosophy, and ideology of the political systems you’ll work in as well as an in depth understanding of comparative politics and international relations. This minor will allow you to better examine the process, policy and analysis, and political dynamics of political systems within our country and throughout countries and regions of the world.

Social Work
Social work, by definition, promotes social change, problem solving in human relationships, and the empowerment and liberation of people to enhance well-being. A minor in social work allows the criminal justice professionals to better understand human behavior and social systems to best serve the people in their community.
