Ball State launched the Center for Information and Communication Sciences (CICS) on May 8, 1986. The hands-on learning environment not only encourages subject-matter learning but also promotes creative, holistic problem-solving, strategic thinking, and the development of leadership skills.
Why move beyond technical training? To better serve both students and the industry in which they work. Our graduates are ready to excel and advance in a constantly changing technological environment.
The program requires 38 credit hours of course work and can be completed in less than a calendar year. What makes CICS special is its academic placement in the university, its goals, lab facilities, equipment, and industry contacts. Employers and alumni in the workplace say our program is appropriately focused on the elements required for success.
Our students stand out from their peers. They are likely to have a strong interest in the future along with a touch of risk-taker/pioneer. Their expectations are high, and they are ambitious, exhibiting solid management qualities. Graduating students continue to enjoy a 90-plus percent placement rate in the information and communications field.
