Human Factors Institute

Its full name is the Human Factors Institute for User-Centered Design, Development, and Deployment (HFI-UCD3 or just HFI for short). Its focus is the interaction between humans and technology, and the need for understanding the impact of a good interface.

It’s an important mission. As information and communication technologies become increasingly prevalent and sophisticated, the interface is a key factor determining whether people are the masters of the machines or the other way around.

The underlying theory guiding the institute is sometimes referred to as Human Factors Theory. HFI is a research group focused on analyzing human-machine interaction, knowledge management, and ergonomics. Working with HFI, you will gain experience and understanding of the effects of human factors in all areas of life, and by working on research projects, you will learn how research in this field is structured.

The institute has adopted goals and a code of ethics and provides resources for its members.
