You may have spent some time in the workplace and found that you need a better understanding of communication. Perhaps you’re getting the opportunity to move into a position responsible for employee training and need some training yourself. Maybe you’re wrapping up an undergraduate degree and want to further explore theories and methods of human communication.

In any of these cases, graduate work in communication studies may be just what you need. The Department of Communication Studies has multiple choices when it comes to graduate work:

• Focusing on rhetorical studies and interpersonal communication, the Communication Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) option gets students ready for entry into higher education teaching, a professional communication career, or perhaps further study in a doctoral program.
• For applied and organizational communication, choose the Organizational and Professional Communication Development (OPCD) option to prepare for a career as an organizational communication consultant, trainer, or development specialist, or to pave the way for doctoral studies.
• The Certified Training Consultant program is for graduate students seeking to fulfill the course work for Ball State’s Center for Organizational Resources Certified Training Consultant Institute.
